The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center
Kenai Fjords Tours is proud to partner with the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. The 65 acre Center is a great place to see grizzly and black bears, musk ox, bison, eagle and moose up close. It's the perfect complement to our cruises, which show you the marine wildlife.
The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC) is also a rehabilitation center for injured and orphaned animals, and provides environmental educational programs for nature lovers of all ages. Currently they are busy with a long term project involving the nearly-extinct Wood Bison. This twelve year project will re-establish the wood bison population in Alaska and western Canada and build the herds to a sustainable poplution.
As with Kenai Fjords Tours, the AWCC provides an opportunity for visitors to see the beautiful scenery and wildlife of Alaska in a way that is safe for both human and animal, and we are proud to be teaming up with them this summer.
Book our 11:30 AM National Park Tour and receive a complimentary pass to the Alaska Wildife Conservation Center, located in Portage.
Tour Green
As one of the longest running wildlife cruise providers in Alaska, we know better than anyone how delicate the environment we operate in can be, and how important it is to protect the beautiful scenery and incredible wildlife that we get to see every day. That's why Kenai Fjords Tours is proud to be going full speed ahead with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation's Tour Green program.
What is it?
The Tour Green program is a partnership between wildlife tour companies and environmental organizations designed specifically to mitigate the damage done to the environment by tourism. Every Green Tag purchased (either aboard one of our boat tours or online) helps offset the carbon emissions from your trip by paying to replace burning fossil fuels used for energy (like coal and gas) with clean renewable sources of energy (like wind and solar power) on our nation's power grids.
When you purchase a $2 tag, you will receive a sticker as a thank you for your participation in this program. Not only is the sticker a nice addition to your scrapbook, cool to put on top of your laptop or a new addition to your cars bumper, it represents your commitment to create clean energy. Each $2 tag is the equivalent of 150 miles of travel in a standard car. Green Tags directly fund continued development of new, renewable energy which ultimately protects our natural environment.
The Alaska SeaLife Center
Alaska’s only public aquarium and ocean wildlife rescue center is located in Seward, on the shores of Resurrection Bay. Visitors will encounter Steller sea lions, harbor seals, puffins, Giant Pacific octopus, Alaskan king crab, and a host of other species in a carefully crafted naturalistic environment. The SeaLife Center is a private, non-profit corporation committed to marine research, rehabilitation of sick and injured animals, and expanding the public's knowledge of Alaska's marine ecosystem.
